If you are registering twins, triplets etc. please ensure you complete a separate eform for each child. Make sure when you book the appointment, you choose slots consecutively, and on the same day for your convenience.
Important information, please read:
You will soon be offered appointment dates with the Registrar.
A child should be registered within 42 days of birth. If the child's date of birth is more than 42 days or there are no appointments available with the 42 days since birth, you will be offered an emergency appointment as soon as possible.
Unmarried couples wishing to register the birth of a child, and have the fathers name included on the birth certificate, are advised that both parents must attend the appointment you are about to book with the Registrar.
Married couples are not obliged to both attend the appointment with the Registrar. However, you are advised to to bring a copy of your marriage certificate or any supporting documentation with you to the appointment if only one of you are to attend.
A short certificate will be issued free of charge following successful registration after the appointment with the registrar. The short birth certificate records the child’s full name, sex, date and place of birth. It does not record the name and particulars of the mother or father. A short certificate is issued free of charge when a birth is first registered and is sufficient for some official purposes.
Please note however that if you wish to get a passport for your baby, you MUST have a full birth certificate.
Additional certificates / certificate types can be ordered here at additional charge and will be given during the appointment.
The full birth certificate is a copy of the entry in the birth register, giving all the recorded details.
Would you like to order additional certificates? *
If you require more than 10 copies of the certificate, you can order, pay for, and receive these on the day of your appointment.
